Tasting notes
Deep crimson-ruby colored, this wine emits a rich, spicy, smoky nose of wild blackberries, huckleberries, black currants, mulberry, tobacco, spiced incense and cracked pepper. The flavors mirror the aromatics with deep, penetrating dark fruits that are intermixed with licorice, bittersweet chocolate, Sumatra roast and Red Mountain scorched earth. The back picks up roasted berries and nuts, mocha, toffee and burnt charcoal, followed by a long spiced (nutmeg, clove) and herbed sweetdry tannin finish.- Rand Sealey Review of Washington Wines
Production notes
Hand harvested grapes were fermented in small open top stainless steel tanks. The cap was punched down two times per day. After fermentation the wine was gently pressed and transferred to barrels to complete secondary fermentation. The wine was blended and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.
